Once registered to the CAT-WASTESOIL
website, the Input Sheet can be downloaded from section 1 of the
Cat-Wastesoil page
Once registered to the
CAT-
WASTESOIL
website, the completed Input Sheet can be submitted using section 2 of the
Cat-Wastesoil page
The most common reason
for error messages is due to the incorrect fields being entered in the
CAT
-WASTESOIL Input Sheet, please check the format and
re-send. If errors continue please contact
mail@catwastesoil.co.uk
Currently the Input Sheet is not set up to accept data in AGS format. The
function of importing of data in AGS format will be reviewed at a later date
and will be based upon demand by users of the system.
The
CAT-
WASTESOIL Output
Sheet will be sent to you as an Excel attachment via email. In most cases your
data will be processed and the Output Sheet will be emailed back to you in less
than 10 minutes.
If after a significant period of time (1 hour) you do not receive your results,
please contact

CAT-
WASTESOIL has been designed
to cover the European Waste Catalogue code number 17 05 03 "soil and stones
containing dangerous substances”. (As implemented by the List of Waste
(England) Regulations 2005.)
The assessment of chemical data to determine the potential non-hazardous /
hazardous status has been developed with careful adherence to the following:
-
Environment Agency. Hazardous Waste, Interpretation of the definition and
classification of hazardous waste. Technical Guidance WM2. Version 2.1 June
2003, ISBN: 1 84432 130 4;
-
The Hazardous Waste Directive, (HWD, Council Directive 91/689/EC);
-
European Waste Catalogue, 2002 (EWC 2002, Commission Decision 2000/532/EC) as
amended by Commission Decision 2001/118/EC, 2001/119/EC and Council Decision
2001/573/EC;
-
List of Waste (England) Regulations 2005.
-
Approved Supply List (Eigth Edition), 2002. ISBN: 0 7176 2368 8
The assessment system has not been biased to accommodate a particular type of
site or industrial process as such it is intended to be an impartial assessment
of all contaminated soils according to UK Regulations and published guidance.
An extensive list of compounds has been developed based upon the contaminants
found most frequently at contaminated sites, and the analytical suites
traditionally employed to characterise contaminated land.
However, in some circumstances specific compounds may need to be assessed which
are not currently included within the
CAT-WASTESOIL Input
Sheet. If you have a specific requirement for a compound to be included, please
contact
support@catwastesoil.co.uk.
There are compounds within the CAT-WASTESOIL
Input Sheet that do not occur within the European Waste
Catalogue (2002). If an entry does not exist within the EWC then the Risk
Phrase associated has to be obtained from an alternative source. The
alternative sources to obtain these risk phrases are provided with the
Environment Agency's document WM2. None of these sources have provided the
required risk phrase information for the compounds in question.
Since risk phrases apply to compounds rather than their constituent parts, a
conversion has been incorporated to reflect the difference between
concentration of inorganic species as typically reported in analytical results
and the concentration of the representative metallic compound on which the
hazardous categorisation has been made.
All forms of asbestos (chrysotile, amosite and crocidolite) are listed as R45
(Carc Cat 1) and R48/23 (Toxic), as such materials containing asbestos greater
than the threshold of 0.1% by weight will be regarded as hazardous waste.
If you require additional information regarding the assessment of soils or any
remedial treatment options, please contact Atkins:
jonathan.evans@atkinsglobal.com
Alternatively if you require information on costs or waste handling, and how
this needs to be incorporated into your site programme and logistics, please
contact the McArdle Group.
Contact details can be found on the
contacts page.
In order to perform analysis on uploaded spreadsheets CAT-WASTESOIL
requires that all sample reference names start with a non-numeric character.
Therefore, any sample reference names that start with a numeric character will
be preceded with an underscore.
